The National's Matt Berninger and former Menomena member Brent Knopf are preparing to releasing their El Vy album Return to the Moon at the end of this week (October 30) through 4AD. To tide us over till then, the group have shared a video for the track "Need a Friend."
The song is an energetic art-rock number with tuneful, deeply crooned vocals that are accompanied by quirky robo-rock instrumentation. All in all, it sounds like exactly what it is: a combination of the National and Menomena. The accompanying lyric video shows performance footage along with with shots of a summery excursion in the city, with the whole thing doused in glitchy, computerized effects.
Watch it below. The video was directed by Tom Berninger.
