El Guincho Cancels Tour, Toronto and Montreal Shows

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jul 10, 2008

Brace yourself experimental pop lovers: El Guincho has called off his tour. The sample-loving Spaniard has been forced to cancel almost all of his upcoming dates, including the stops in Toronto and Montreal, due to personal reasons.

An entry posted on the blog Discoteca Océano on the behalf of El Guincho (aka Pablo Díaz-Reixa) says he is simply too exhausted to keep on pushing the sounds of his warmly received debut full-length Alegranza!, according to the translation provided by Pitchfork.

On the up side, the post says he plans to work on new tracks during the needed break and is thinking of expanding the musicians currently featured in his live show. Another plus is that his touring partners Atlas Sound will continue as planned, but we assume with different supporting acts.

Here are El Guincho's amended tour dates:

7/11 Cartagena, Spain - La Mar de Musicas
7/18 Benicassim, Spain - Benicassim Festival
7/20 Chicago IL - Union Park (Pitchfork Music Festival)
7/26 Los Angeles, CA - Getty Museum
7/28 San Francisco, CA - The Independent
7/22 Toronto, ON - The Mod Club
7/23 Montreal, QC - La Sala Rossa
7/24 Cambridge, MA - Middle East Downstairs
7/25 New York, NY - Seaport Music Festival
8/08 Oslo, Norway - Oya Festival
