Published Sep 23, 2014Following up his spring-launched Unfidelity album, Bristol-based beat conceptualist Ekoplekz (a.k.a. Nick Edwards) delivers the Influkz EP today (September 23) through Vancouver imprint More Than Human. To help pump up the release, the artist has unveiled the twisting rhythms of EP track "Ariwakz."
The groove is driven by conch shell clacking, a vintage slow-mo waltz preset probably imported from an old Korg Rhythm 55, and an interstellar wobble of keyboard. Once a cavernous echo wraps around the warped melody, the track sounds something like the Mos Eisley Cantina Band jumping into the world of dub.
The Influkz EP is out now as a limited edition 12-inch. You'll find the delightfully light-hearted but disorienting "Ariwakz" down below.
