If you were planning to catch German industrial legends Einstürzende Neubauten at any of their upcoming 30th anniversary gigs, you might want to brace yourself for some bad news. The group, regrettably, have cancelled their North American tour.
The December dates, which included two stops in Toronto, have been canned over immigration issues. While the band's working papers were approved, a timing snafu has resulted in the whole trip being scrapped. A post on the group's website explains the predicament.
"While the US Department of Homeland Security did issue approvals for the band's visas, it was not done in time to secure the appointments at the overseas embassies and consulates that represent the necessary final step in the process," the group said in the statement.
"The band members are tremendously disappointed by this turn of events and wish to thank all those fans who purchased tickets for these performances for their support. The band would have loved to do the tour and meet their overseas fans. Because this tour was a time-sensitive production, it will not be rescheduled."
Because they have nixed the idea of rescheduling the performances, it's unclear as to when, if ever, Einstürzende Neubauten will come back this way again.
