Eiko Ishibashi's Imitation of Life came out on CD last year via the Japanese label Felicity, but fans can now avoid the hefty import fees thanks to a vinyl pressing in North America from Drag City. The domestic release is due out on November 19.

Ishibashi's website explains that, prior to recording the album, the songwriter formed a band called Eiko Ishibashi To Mou Shinda Hitotachi. This group features esteemed experimentalist Jim O'Rourke, who also produced the new album.

Drag City calls this "a progressive sci-fi pop album featuring the best playing on any albums released in Japan in 2012. New music, no matter in what year you hear it!" Ishibashi plays piano, vibraphone, guitar and flute.

The album includes just seven songs, but nearly all of them clock in at five minutes or more. Scroll past the tracklist to watch videos for the sonically rich songs "Resurrection" and "Imitation of Life."
