Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros' Alex Ebert Unveils Soundtrack for 'A Most Violent Year'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 26, 2014

Last year, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros leader Alex Ebert scored J.C. Chandor's film All Is Lost. He also scored the director's latest flick, A Most Violent Year, and a soundtrack is on the way next month.

A Most Violent Year will premiere in select theatres on December 31 before getting a wide release in January. Before that, the soundtrack will come out on December 16 through Community Music, Film Music Reporter points out. Judging by the subtitle Original Music from and Inspired By, the album could be using the movie simply as a jumping-off point when it comes to some songs.

There are nine tracks in all, including two different versions of the piece "Garden Shadows" (which comes in piano and orchestral renditions). The tracklist is below. Sparse and peculiar opening track "America for Me" is streaming at the bottom of this page.

A Most Violent Year (Original Music from and Inspired By):

1. America for Me
2. I Am and We Are
3. Garden Shadows (Piano)
4. Random Piece
5. Abel's Theme
6. Running
7. Underneath
8. Close Haircut
9. Garden Shadows (Orchestra)
