Much like the rest of us, Edmonton's annual Downtown Defrost festival organizers are already looking forward to the end of winter. For its ninth event, the city's biggest winter dance party is set to melt away the blues from March 29 to 30 at Sir Winston Churchill Square.

This year, the fest features an unprecedented lineup of global electronic icons, including Hot Chip, Skream, the LibrarianBianca Oblivion, Dane, Shiny Things, Jex Opolis, MPH, Black Loops, Madam X and more, as well as Joluca, Dunmore Park, DAILEY, adv_recreation, malcs., Joses, David Stone, YELRIHS, Age, Viet, Keekz, Triggs, Work Party, Aunt Viv, Heymac, Arson and Club Kids.

"This lineup is a testament to the city's evolution as a cultural hub," co-founder and event producer Sahib Quraishi explained in a statement. "The Downtown Defrost started as a small party among friends; a reason for us to celebrate the end of winter and bring incredible talent to Edmonton. That we're able to showcase this level of talent alongside up-and-coming Canadian artists is a huge milestone for us. "

Downtown Defrost is a family-friendly event, running from 2 to 10 p.m. each day in outdoor heated tents ahead of a host of official 18-plus afterparties at beloved local venues the Chvrch of John and the Starlite Room.

Tickets are on sale now, with both single-day and weekend — in addition to general admission and VIP — passes available via the fest's website.
