Canada's EDM Scene to Be Explored in 'I/O: An Electronic Music Documentary'

The wild world of EDM is set to be explored in an upcoming film called I/O: An Electronic Music Documentary. Though a due date is still a long ways off, filmmakers are trying to raise funds for the project by offering up an already-completed, short-form doc focusing on long-running outdoor BC music festival Shambhala.

Vancouver filmmaker Kevan McGovern's mini-doc is called The Shambhala Experience, and it's being offered up as a $10 incentive through a newly launched Kickstarter campaign for I/O. The short film had already made its way into a handful of theatres, but you can now enjoy the BC festival-exploring short film from your very own home.

As for the in-the-works I/O: An Electronic Music Documentary, McGovern's next film is described in a press release as a project that examines "the connection between electronic music, human beings, and cultural anthropology." It will feature appearances from electronic artists like DJ Z-Trip, Opiuo, Dub Fx, Datsik, Chali 2na, Rusko, Dieselboy, DJ Stickybuds, ill-esha, and Longwalkshortdock. Many of the same acts appeared in The Shambhala Experience.

The Kickstarter fund is live from today (October 26) to November 27 over here. The Shambhala Experience documentary won't be offered up for sale once the campaign closes.

You'll find trailers for both films down below, while more info about the projects can be found over here.
