We don't exactly feel cool when we buy music from Starbucks, but that doesn't mean that the world's largest coffee chain can't occasionally put together a pretty sweet-looking release. Case in point: Every Mother Counts Vol. 2, an exclusive Starbucks compilation that features unreleased tunes from some of music's biggest names.
The compilation will be available exclusively at Starbucks from May 1 to 29, and proceeds will go to model Christy Turlington's Every Mother Counts organization, with the aim of reducing maternal mortality worldwide.
While the first Every Mother Counts compilation from 2011 featured female artists who were mothers, this collection is made up of parents (and parents-to-be) from both sexes. Among the artists that have contributed exclusive material are Eddie Vedder, Patti Smith, Beck, Rufus Wainwright, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, Dave Matthews Band, the Edge and Bono, Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, Coldplay, and more.
There are also non-exclusive tunes by David Bowie, Sting, Lauryn Hill, Sade and others. See the 19-song tracklist below.
Turlington told Rolling Stone, "I went to friends first, as I did with the first CD. Bono and Chris Martin were great supporters of the project the first time around, and when I knew I wanted to include men on this album, they were obvious choices."
