Echo & the Bunnymen To Self-Release <i>Ocean Rain</i> Live Album

Echo & the Bunnymen  are hardly a stranger to the live album. In fact, the '80s pop stalwarts have done over a half-dozen of them in their career, making word of yet another one not the most exciting news of the day. Well, that is until you find out the live album features the band performing their 1984 high-water mark Ocean Rain in its entirety, and with a full orchestra attached. (Okay, it's not news about a new Radiohead album or something but it's still kind of cool.)

With the very explanatory title of Echo & the Bunnymen: Ocean Rain Live Liverpool Echo Arena 27/11/08, the live album was recorded in Liverpool last year and is set to be released "on or before" May 1. It comes as a deluxe package that will include a DVD featuring a behind-the-scenes documentary and an optional voiceover by Bunnymen singer Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant, as well as an eight-page booklet of photos. Also, McCulloch and Sergeant will be autographing the first 1,000 copies ordered.

The release is only available through the band's website and can be ordered here.

Echo & the Bunnymen are playing a several shows at this year's SXSW in Austin, TX, and they also have plan's to release the follow-up to 2005's Siberia sometime later this year. There aren't a lot of details on that new studio album yet but it has been named The Fountain.
