On Friday (January 29), Eagles of Death Metal and Death From Above 1979 launched a mysterious social media campaign hinting that something was in the works for Canadian fans. Now, Exclaim! is excited to reveal that the two bands will indeed be pairing up to bring a joint tour through Canada this spring.
The string Canadian shows kicks off on April 26 in Vancouver and will pass through Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, London, Montreal and Hamilton before wrapping up in Quebec City on May 8. Turbowolf will also be included on the bill.
Tickets will be on sale to the public on February 5 at 10 a.m. local time. Exclaim! will be serving as a co-sponsor for the shows in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Hamilton and London. For those shows, eager fans can get in on a special pre-sale starting February 3 at 10 a.m. local time with the password "virgins1979."
Death From Above 1979 reunited and delivered The Physical World back in 2014, and seem to have ditched the qualifying 1979 from their band name. Eagles of Death Metal, meanwhile, most recently released Zipper Down last year.
Death From Above's Sebastien Grainger offered up a Facebook post, explaining the bands' intertwining histories and their decision to embark on the upcoming live adventure ahead. It reads:
