Long-running new wavers Duran Duran previously hinted at plans for their latest album, which will hear them teaming up with a wide range of musical collaborators; now they've confirmed plans for its release.
Titled Paper Gods, the new album is due out on September 18 in North America and on September 11 in the rest of the world via Warner Bros. Records.
UPDATE: The album will now arrive on September 11.
The new record was recorded in London and saw the band team up with producers Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Josh Blair and Mr. Hudson.
In addition to big names on the boards, the band also enlisted an impressive array of musical contributors like Janelle Monáe, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Kiesza, Davidé Rossi and — for some reason — Lindsay Lohan.
"It really goes back to that strange early Duran mix: the hard-edged pop, coexisting with this dark, weird, experimental side," said bassist John Taylor in a press release.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes added: "That's something that's essential to all of us. It's great to be able to lift people's spirits — and your own — with a strong shot of pure pop, but the world we live in isn't all just made of that stuff, so it seems natural to me that we have kept one foot in the darker, more Gothic side of life."
Frontman Simon Le Bon, meanwhile, cites influences like Horses, Harvest, Let It Bleed, Blue, Transformer and Aladdin Sane. The first sampling of the ambitious sound will arrive as lead single "Pressure Off," which features Janelle Monáe. Before that lands, though, relive a Duran Duran classic below.
