"I flew to L.A. / Born in New Jersey / I drive on the highway." That's a lyric from Ducktails' new song "Headbanging in the Mirror," and it also describes the accompanying music video.
The song is a jangling indie pop number that's a close sonic counterpoint for songwriter Matt Mondanile's work as Real Estate's lead guitarist. In the accompanying clip, we see cinematic slo-mo shots of Mondanile driving around California (where he lives). This means we see lots of deserts and palm trees, and Mondanile strums his guitar on the roof of a Los Angeles home (Workaholics style).
