Duchess Says

Duchess Says played CMW's most confrontational gig. Lead singer Annie-Claude Deschene regularly waded into the crowd, standing inside personal bubbles while shrieking and moaning her way through tracks from the Montreal band's debut, Anthologie des 3 Perchoirs. While Deschene mucked around with the audience, keyboardist Ismael layed down violently deranged noises over top of the group's locked in rhythm section. Due to the chaotic nature of their music, the band often sound sloppy and muddy live. But a couple of years on the road and a crisp sound system colluded to make Duchess Says' set one of CMW's best.
