The Drift

Stalkin' Like Killers

Not the cool Canadian band with the same name, this Drift comes to us from overseas, courtesy of the quality Alveran Records. Unfortunately, this Drift is a bit of a letdown. Drift is heavy enough, and that's a nice big production they're packin', but the songs lack variety or originality. They play heavy emotional hardcore - hardcore fans probably call it metal while metalheads probably call it hardcore. The riffs are a mix of Undertow-era hardcore and old school NYHC stuff, all of it catchy and well played but also rather droll. In the realm of straight-ahead hardcore, Drift is a much-needed breath of fresh air. However, outside of that world they fail to bring anything new to the mix. And for crying out loud, proof read those lyric sheets before they're printed!
