Published Mar 16, 2015When we reported on the upcoming Drake documentary, we noted that it was unclear whether the man himself had anything to do with the film. Now, the rapper has clarified his lack of involvement by disavowing Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage.
Drizzy made it clear that he doesn't support the film by tweeting the following:
The film is being executive produced by J. Prince and Jas Prince of Rap-a-Lot Records. Both of the men are interviewed in the film. The story goes that Jas helped discover Drake by introducing him to Lil Wayne. In 2012, Jas filed a lawsuit, alleging that he deserved royalties.
The Drake Homecoming film is not something OVO or Drake have any part in. I feel it is my responsibility to inform and protect my fans.— Drizzy (@Drake) March 16, 2015
Homecoming focuses on Drake's 2009 Toronto show at the Sound Academy, which took place around the same time that the former Degrassi: The Next Generation actor was beginning to break through as a rapper.
The film comes out on Thursday (March 19). Watch a trailer below.
