Published Jan 13, 2011Call it the commonwealth connection, but Canadian hip-hop sensation Drake is becoming quite the anglophile. Just last week we reported that the Young Money millionaire would be collaborating with Florence and the Machine singer Florence Welch on an upcoming track, but it looks as if his obsession with Ol' Blighty doesn't end there.
An interview with BBC Radio 1 [via BBC Newsbeat] reveals that the rapper will be working with Jamie Smith of the London-based XX on his sophomore set, Take Care.
"We're working on Take Care together," Drake confirmed. "Jamie is probably one of the most exciting producers I've ever heard."
With previous reports alleging that the T Dot rapper was already working on cuts with Noah "40" Shebib, Boi-1da and 9th Wonder, it's unclear how many tunes will actually be helmed by the minimalist Brit. Here's betting, however, that the former Degrassi kid's charmingly laid-back flow meshes perfectly with the Mercury Prize winner's hazy, late-night beats.
