Following the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this year, there have been cries far and wide to put an end to offshore oil drilling. The latest effort comes in the form of Spill: Songs for Oil Spill Relief, a collection of songs by Canadian independent artists designed to create awareness of the effects of oil drilling and to raise money for Oceana, which is in the midst of creating a petition to quell offshore oil drilling worldwide.

The compilation features contributions from Dragonette, Lindi Ortega, the Balconies, Spirits, Clothes Make the Man, Recovery Child, Michou, Sandman Viper Command, the Junction, Peter Katz, the Salingers, StereoGoesStellar and Dinosaur Bones.

For any donation made to Oceana, fans will immediately receive a download link for the compilation. Any donation made during August will be matched, up to $50,000.
