'Downton Abbey' Director Andy Goddard to Helm Film About the Rolling Stones

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 13, 2016

Seemingly immortal rock group the Rolling Stones will soon see the story of their Exile on Main Street recording sessions come to life in a new feature film. The project was first mentioned way back in 2012, but it appears to be moving forward with news that a director has been hired.

As Deadline reports, the film will be helmed by Andy Goddard. The director is best known for his work on Downton Abbey (a television show set around the same era that Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were born, we're pretty sure) and some episodes of Daredevil and the forthcoming The Punisher.

The film will be based on Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell with the Rolling Stones, a book about the album's recording sessions written by Robert Greenfield.

The roles of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are currently being cast, with plans to start shooting the film this winter.
