Late At Night

BY Scott WilymanPublished Jun 1, 2000

High-octane rawk from Madrid that will have the fists a-pumpin'. Somewhere between burning rubber and a jackhammer, this unisex quartet is the tighter, less slutty Spanish counterpart to Nashville Pussy. Most of the tunes clock in at about 90 mph, with some tricky playing just this side of math rock. Singer Cristina Llanos (vox y guitarra) neither screams nor sounds like a Barbie and comes up with some great melodies. Many of the songs deal with inner exploration and spirit that is not irritatingly new age. A tough album ripe for the picking by any music lovers that like it hard and fast.
