Douglas Kings

Yikes! This is the worst thing I’ve heard in a long time. These guys are a two-piece drum and guitar outfit that claim to sound like Elvis Costello and Hüsker Dü, but not only do I not like their music, I don’t agree with these comparisons, as the sound here is just dry, blanched-out rock tunes with no hooks or personality. Boring, somewhat grating and very uninteresting, the Douglas Kings’ Inc. just doesn’t have anything to recommend it. These guys don’t suck in the "they can’t play " kind of naïve way, in fact they come off like veterans in the field. Therefore they made a concerted effort to sound this colourless and bland. I’ve got to get this CD out of my player before it stinks up the rest of the discs in the carousel.
