DJ Spinna smoothly mixes 24 tracks of sweet and sexy soulful deep house from the crates of urban dance music label Guidance Records. Raiding The Crates is an almost soothing journey into the mellower side of urban dance music, and it is created from a diverse assortment of gems, from house music luminaries such as Kevin Yost to spoken word/reggae artists Mutabaruka. A:xus Feat and vocalist Naomi Nsombi's reworking of kd lang's "Constant Craving" into "Calling U" is a highlight, as is Mutabaruka's "Dis Poem '99." The rich mix of jazz, reggae and Latin influences keep the deep house sound varied and rich, giving one a sense of DJ Spinna's musical roots.
