Online urban entertainment network Urbnet.com and "think /indie live free" label Shoreline Records have joined forces to promote underground sounds from Canada and the world. In Housemix v1, Winnipeg's DJ Oxide seamlessly blends funky deep house into a bouncy set, à la up-beat Mark Farina. Housemix v1 starts out with some disco-y tracks, like Nick Holder's "Make U Mine" and Roy Davis Jr's "Sonny," but after that Oxide pumps more than grooves with a thick layer of fat rhythms from Stickman Records, whose tribal funk shines in Oxide's mid-set beats.
