Published Feb 02, 2009After months of speculation, videogame developer Activision has confirmed that a turntable spin-off of Guitar Hero is indeed in the works.
While speaking to CNBC, CEO Bobby Kotick said: "We have this product called DJ Hero coming out later this year, which is a turntable that you can actually play competitively, spin discs and mix on."
As previously reported, DJ Tiësto prematurely leaked word of the DJ Hero videogame late last year, with rumours of the game popping up long before then. In December, Tiësto said via a newsletter that he had teamed up with Activision to help develop the game, adding: "I am very excited about this! I think this is a great way to introduce people to DJing. Maybe they realize it's not as easy as they think. I am sure this brings new fans to the scene, dance music is not far from hip-hop, for example. Hopefully the music I have composed appeals to all kinds of fans!"
And while Tiësto's handlers have since denied the "superstar DJ" is participating in the videogame, DJ Hero is expected to be out before the year's end and to compete with Genco Interactive and 7 Studios' a href="http://neufutur.com/?p=4912" target="_blank">Scratch: The Ultimate DJ, which is also scheduled for release in 2009.
