DJ Champion Diagnosed with Cancer

DJ Champion Diagnosed with Cancer
After announcing that he was cancelling "all confirmed concert dates on his agenda" in early June, DJ Champion revealed yesterday (July 4) that he was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.

The 41-year-old, Juno-nominated DJ (whose real name is Maxime Morin) is currently undergoing chemotherapy, which explains the cancellation of his July and August dates in Ontario, Nova Scotia and native province Quebec.

At the time of cancellation, Morin's website offered the following message: "DJ Champion is currently facing a health matter that requires him to stop all activities in order to regain his strength. Disappointed to be bearing such news, DJ Champion hopes to start touring again as soon as his health condition enables him to."

A post today (July 5) adds: "Courageous and optimistic, Maxime has already started the treatments required to battle this illness. Thank you again for your support, you are amazing fans!"

Exclaim! wishes Morin all the best and hopes that he will return to the stage as soon as he is able.
