Published Apr 24, 2013Distort Vancouver has been bringing out crust, punk and hardcore bands to the West Coast for the better part of a decade, but it's been announced that this year's ninth edition will be its last.
Details are still shaping up for this year's fest, which runs September 5 to 7, but booker Jeff "Foat" Kraft noted on a Facebook event page that "this will also be the last Distort Vancouver Fest, as i'm getting too fucking old and tired for this shit!"
While venue specifics have yet to arrive, a number of local and international acts will make their way to Distort in September. On the global front, D-beat vets Mob 47 and fellow Swedes Desperat will be making appearances, as will Spain's Las Otras. U.S. acts scheduled to appear include Bellicose Minds, Condition, Kruel, Life Form, Apocalypse Now, Ruleta Rusa, Long Knife, Gag, White Wards, and Countdown to Armageddon.
Canadian representation comes from Proxy, Absolut, Asile, Schizophasia, Napalm Raid, Life Chain, No Problem, and Rhythm of Cruelty, among others. Local acts include Kraft's Total War project, Spectres, Mass Grave and Koszmar. More bands will be added to the lineup in the coming months.
Info concerning tickets is also pending, but they're expected to go on sale sometime in July.
