Disq Detail Sophomore Album 'Desperately Imagining Someplace Quiet,' Play Toronto on Fall Tour

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jul 20, 2022

Disq have announced their sophomore album. The Wisconsin-bred outfit will share Desperately Imagining Someplace Quiet on October 7 via Saddle Creek.

Following the band's 2020 debut CollectorDesperately Imagining Someplace Quiet was recorded with producer Matt Schuessler, and is previewed today by skittery first single "Cujo Kiddies" which you can hear below.

As bassist/songwriter/vocalist Raina Bock explains in a releases, "I wanted to make a song that sounded like a freight train full of clowns and silly toys, barreling through the dark, observing and taking note of the various gloomy landscapes of my brain (without dwelling too long or taking any of it too seriously)."

"I wrote the first half of 'Cujo' from deep inside the hole of substance abuse and loneliness. The song was meant to function as a blueprint for how I wished my reality could look. Six months later, sitting in an ocean of boxes all packed up for what would be my fourth time moving that year, I wrote the second half," Bock continues. "The experience inspired what I hope to be my lifelong approach to songwriting going forward… To write songs not with the goal of reflecting on where I am at a given moment, but as a tool to pull myself out of the way things are and toward the way I'd like them to be."

Disq have also shared plans to take Desperately Imagining Someplace Quiet on tour in North America this fall. Following a string of September shows supporting Neko Case, the band will play 16 dates between November and December with support from Ducks Ltd., Sorry and Sea Lemon on select stops.

A lone Canadian stop comes in Toronto at the Drake Underground on November 18. You can find the complete tour itinerary below, with further ticketing information found via Disq's official website.
