Disclosure Downplay Recording with Azealia Banks

At some point in the future, rapper Azealia Banks will finally deliver her long-awaited debut LP Broke with Expensive Taste. We hadn't heard about it in a while, until she grabbed headlines earlier this week by revealing that she had hit the studio with wildly popular house duo Disclosure. Trouble is, according to them, they haven't recorded much of anything with Banks.

Though Banks tweeted, "About to enter the greatest studio session EVAR. !!!!!" and later "Just had an amazing session with @disclosure !!!!" on Monday (June 24), brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence denied any such session took place.

"We don't have a song with her yet. We've met her once," Disclosure's Guy Lawrence told 3VOOR12 [see below, via Pitchfork]. "I think she's kind of taken to Twitter quite heavily with the fact that she's meeting with us. And people now think that we've made the greatest song of all time, and it doesn't even actually have a chorus yet."

Howard Lawrence added, "All these blogs think we've now made a masterpiece, but really, we just sat there eating sushi."

UPDATE: Disclosure later tweeted, "We actually did have a good session with @AZEALIABANKS we didn't just eat food! lol Hopefully it will be in your ears soon!"

Now we're starting to question everything that Banks has been saying about her upcoming record. Maybe the rumoured Pharrell collaboration called "ATM Jam" is just what happened when they were trying to pay for some Vietnamese food.

When it does finally drop, Broke with Expensive Taste will arrive via Interscope.
