'It Follows' Composer Disasterpeace Treats 'Hyper Light Drifter' to Vinyl Box Set

Electronic composer Disasterpeace (a.k.a. Rich Vreeland) freaked out moviegoers with his much-loved score for It Follows, but he generally traffics in sounds for the gamer crowd. Fittingly, it's just been announced that his music for throwback RPG Hyper Light Drifter will be getting its own vinyl box set release later this year.

Word has arrived that videogame vinyl specialists iam8bit (Battletoads) and Heart Machine have teamed up to deliver a deluxe, four-LP box set release behind Disasterpeace's work for the retro-modelled action adventure game.

The material will be pressed onto coloured vinyl and housed in "a premium hardcase, then wrapped in a beautiful tri-fold outer wrap (easily opened/closed via a hidden magnet)." The artwork, picturing a sword-possessing drifter from the game, was prepped by Heart Machine and Drew Wise.

The music had previously been delivered as a digital release, which you can stream below, though the box set recordings were mastered specifically for vinyl by Infrasonic Sound.

Hyper Light Drifter has players directing a drifter through a "savage land, steeped in treasure and blood." It's added in the game write-up that "our Drifter is haunted by an insatiable illness, travelling further into the lands of Buried Time, hoping to discover a way to quiet the vicious disease."

Pre-sales have already gone up for the Hyper Light Drifter vinyl box, with the collection expected to arrive this winter.
