While many blog-favoured acts fizzle out after one big album, Brooklyn weird pop trio Dirty Projectors have built a critic-proof career on the bizarre and wildly innovative compositions of Dave Longstreth. Their incredible 2009 effort Bitte Orca still sounds way ahead of its time one year later, so we're happy that instead of rushing out another release the band have announced a string of tour dates.
Beginning in Denver on June 19, Dirty Projectors will spend the summer months hitting up most of the major music festivals across the United States and Europe. Then they will spend their autumn travelling North America, first on a string of dates with Owen Pallett, then a brief jaunt with Sub Pop garage group Happy Birthday. It's on that leg that they'll return to Montreal and Toronto.
On top of the touring, Dirty Projectors have been keeping busy by helping out the Roots with their long-anticipated How I Got Over LP. That album will finally see the light of day on June 22.
