Dirty Projectors Hint at Collaboration with Solange Knowles

On Tuesday (July 10), Brooklyn pop experimenters and Exclaim! cover stars the Dirty Projectors will issue their highly anticipated new album Swing Lo Magellan via Domino. While the record is packed with enough ideas to keep their fanbase interested for a while, the group are already eyeing future projects. One potential release could be a collaboration with Solange Knowles, Beyonce's little sister and a successful soul singer in her own right.

The two parties started talking with Solange released a cover of the group's "Stillness Is the Move" in 2009. Now, there's the potential that they could be releasing some original music together.

Speaking with the Guardian, Dirty Projectors frontman Dave Longstreth said, "We're buds. I'm making some beats for her. It's at a germinative state right now. She's very busy and it might not be her top priority to just put together an album."

While the nature of that quote suggests that the project may not come to fruition for a while, the fact that Longstreth is even entertaining the idea of an album-length collaboration with the singer is pretty damn cool. Here's hoping it all pans out.
