Diplo Working on EDM Film for Fox

Any music fans who haven't been living under a rock will have noticed the incredible rise of EDM in the last few years. It looks as if Hollywood has been paying close attention, since Diplo is reportedly involved with a new dance music film that has been acquired by 20th Century Fox.

Deadline reports that Diplo and his Mad Decent affiliate Kevin Kusatsu have signed on as executive producers for the forthcoming flick. The project looks to be in its early planning stages, with Adam Weinstock and Andy Jones on board as writers and Trevor Engelson involved as producer.

The picture apparently evokes the party film Project X and the Eminem-starring rap drama 8 Mile. It concerns three teenagers trying to get into a Diplo-led EDM festival. (From that description, it sounds a bit like Detroit Rock City for the rave crowd.)

Kusatsu told The Fader, "It's like Eminem and Christopher Walken at a Manchester rave."

The film doesn't yet have a name, and given that it's reportedly still being written, you might not want to hold your breath while waiting for this project. There's no word on when filming might officially begin, so stay tuned for further updates.
