D4 havent been to Canada in an insanely long time. They said it was eight years. I dont know if thats true but holy shit it was rad to have them back. They were opening for NOFX two straight nights at the Kool Haus in Toronto, but they also played a secret show at Sneaky Dees (with fucking Frankie Stubbs from Leatherface) on the second night. I dont think anyone in the band remembers. It was that good.
So D4 being in town was a big, awesome deal. Given that three-fourths of the band own or work in bars, we figured a little bit of a drink-mixing lesson would be a good idea. It proved invaluable when, while trying to find somewhere to do the interview, Paddy started asking people if there was booze in their room yet. There is no quicker way to endear yourself to someone who is looking for booze than by having half a mickey of scotch in your backpack that youre about to use in their interview. We had a blast, Paddy is the coolest dude ever, the end.
