DIIV

'Oshin' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 18, 2012

Having changed their name from Dive to DIIV and earned a whole lot of hype with the process, songwriter Z. Cole Smith's band are ready to drop their debut album. Entitled Oshin, it arrives June 26 via Captured Tracks. Until then, you can preview one of 2012's most hotly anticipated debuts by streaming the entire thing.

The 13-track collection encompasses the band's buzz-worthy early singles, plus a host of brand new tracks. A press release notes that these songs are "indebted to classic Kraut, dreamy Creation Records psychedelia, and the primitive-crunch of late-'80s Seattle."

Get a taste of what the group cooked up below via The Hype Machine. Band leader Smith plays guitar with the jangle pop outfit Beach Fossils, so you might hear some influence from his other group.
