Digitalis Plots Reissue of Jean Piché's 1982 Canadian Synth Odyssey 'Heliograms'

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 7, 2012

Electroacoustic composer Jean Piché has taught in his field at the University of Montreal since 1988. Prior to that, in 1982, he released a four-track album called Heliograms. The synth-heavy head-nodder has wallowed in relative obscurity since, but it will see a proper reissue later this month.

Recorded while Piché was studying at Vancouver's Simon Fraser University between 1977 and 1980, Heliograms sees the composer experimenting with computers, synthesizers and good old-fashioned acoustic instruments. The album was originally released by Melbourne.

Heliograms will be reissued by Digitalis on May 28. For now, you can check out excepts from the record below.

Heliograms:

1. Ange
2. La mer à l'aube
3. Rouge
4. Heliograms
