This week's film roundup is dotted with plenty of big names, so whether you're looking to catch your favourite star's latest flick, or just hoping to escape the last of the summer heat, there should be something in theatres to fit the bill. To start, head to Exclaim!'s Recently Reviewed section to read about our reviewers' picks and pans, starting with some of the highlights below.

First, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon are pitted against one another in the high-speed chases of director David Koepp's Premium Rush (pictured). The film follows the whirlwind exploits of a brake-phobic bike courier who gets unwittingly mixed up with mob money and a dirty cop.

Next, Dax Shepard co-directs and stars in Hit and Run, which sees him, and real-life fiancé Kristen Bell, attempting to outrun a series of pursuers on the road to L.A., while Twilight star Ashley Greene tries to fend off a conjured evil spirit in horror flick The Apparition.

Meanwhile, French filmmaker Benoît Jacquot revisits the final four days of Louis XVI's court in Farewell, My Queen, with Diane Kruger as Marie Antoinette and Léa Seydoux playing the role of her devoted reader and attendant, while Jake Schreier's Robot & Frank raises difficult questions in its story about the bond formed between an aging man and the robot selected to care for him.

And last up, the documentary Darwin takes a look at the quirky lives of the citizens living in the tiny, titular California town.
