Published Sep 14, 2010Get ready, Ontario music fans: the Kitchener, Ontario Independent Music Festival (KOI) is coming up this Saturday, September 18.
The massive festival will be held across downtown Kitchener in ten indoor venues and one outdoor stage, and will feature almost 140 bands from all over North America. KOI has a focus on community and, as such, close to half of the performers will be Ontario artists. A big thumbs-up goes to festival organizers for featuring a broad choice of genres that are sure to please music lovers of many styles, including folk, rock, indie, punk, metal, ska, pop, reggae and blues.
Here are just some of the bands you can look forward to checking out at this year's festival: the Reason, Die Mannequin, Anti-Flag, Orphan Choir, Michou, Wayfarer, the oOoohh Baby Gimmie Mores and Hometown Beatdown
You can check out the full schedule on the KOI website.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. You can purchase your tickets online here.
If you want to get involved, KOI is looking for volunteers to help make the first-time festival a success. It's a great way to get involved in your community and explore the music scene. Plus you can fill those high school volunteer hours. Check out the KOI website to register to become a volunteer.
