'Danceland' (EP stream)

Many Canadian music fans who weren't already familiar with punk-y Toronto hard rockers Die Mannequin were recently introduced to the band thanks to their prominent role in Bruce McDonald's Hard Core Logo 2, and now they're making the most of the added publicity by releasing a new collection of songs. Danceland is out next Tuesday (June 12) via eOne Music, but you can stream the entire release now on Exclaim.ca.

While Danceland is billed as an EP, it contains a generous nine songs. Some of these were recorded during the making of Hard Core Logo 2. According to a press release, "While filming Hard Core Logo 2, Bruce set up the production so that the band was actually recording new tracks live off the studio floor with legendary Canadian producer Peter Moore (Neil Young, Diana Krall, Cowboy Junkies)."

These songs capture the group at their raw and ragged best. As the title implies, the EP was recorded at the Danceland ballroom on Manitou Beach, SK. Take a listen to what they created below, and check out Die Mannequin's upcoming Canadian tour dates over at their official site.

UPDATE: This stream was available for one week only and is no longer available.
