The man born Sean Combs has changed his name many times over his decade-spanning career, and he's just unveiled his latest self-appointed title. Going forward, he'll be going by the name Brother Love — or simply Love.
The Bad Boy mogul unveiled his latest persona in a video over the weekend. He posted the clip to Twitter on his birthday (November 4), declaring: "I'm just not who I am before, I'm something different."
Despite acknowledging that the choice may come off as "corny" to some, he seems pretty committed to it. "I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of my other monikers but Love or Brother Love," he added.
UPDATE (11/7, 12 p.m. EST): Diddy has now emerged to clarify he was only joking about the name change, and he is not now called Brother Love.
Watch his video announcement below.
Despite his declaration, the rapper and vodka entrepreneur now known as Brother Love seemed more than happy to retweet plenty of birthday messages directed at @Diddy — which remains Combs' Twitter handle for now.
