Diamond Rings Launches Rainbow Remix Series, Books Summer Tour Dates

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 17, 2011

Following a triumphant 2010, Toronto pop sensation Diamond Rings (aka John O'Regan) hasn't slowed down in 2011. He's already relaunched his band the D'Urbervilles as Matters and recently signed a U.S. deal with Astralwerks. Now, the busy songwriter is kicking off a new remix series.

In a blog post today (May 17), O'Regan announced Remix Rainbow, a six-part remix project. Every Tuesday from now until June 21, he will unveil a new remix of another artist's song, which will be made available as a free download via his website.

O'Regan explained, "The artwork for each remix will represent a different colour of the Diamond Rings rainbow and when compiled together they'll make a pretty cool sonic artifact for the digital age."

He hasn't yet announced which artists he will be remixing, but you can go here to pick up the first instalment in the series: his take on "Raw Spectacle" from Miracle Fortress's recent Was I the Wave?

O'Regan described the album as "phenomenally emotive and incredibly uplifting. The fact that MF's mastermind Graham Van Pelt is a fantastic human being and an excellent teammate on the basketball courts just seals the deal."

This remix evidently represents purple in the Diamond Rings rainbow. See the cover art above.

The remix series will lead up to two new Diamond Rings releases: a U.S. release of his LP Special Affections from Astralwerks and an expanded digital edition of that same record from Secret City.
