Diamond Rings Announces New Single, Gears Up for Debut LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 2, 2010

Since making a name for himself as the front-man of the D'Urbervilles, John O'Regan has garnered an impressive buzz for his solo project, Diamond Rings. And while O'Regan won't release his debut Diamond Rings LP, Special Affections, until this fall, he will tide us over with a new twelve-inch single, "Show Me Your Stuff."

You will be able to pick up a physical copy when it drops on June 18 via One Big Silence Records (the new label founded by Fucked Up guitarist Mike Haliechuk), and right now you can check out "Show Me Your Stuff" over at Diamond Rings' MySpace. It's an infectious tune, propelled by dance floor-ready beats, MIDI-sounding piano riffs and O'Regan's deadpan baritone vocals.

The twelve-inch single comes with a remix of the title track, as well as a B-side called "You Oughta Know" (plus a remix of the same song). We're guessing/hoping this isn't an Alanis Morissette cover, since a press release states that the song will later appear on Special Affections.

Diamond Rings will be playing a small number of North American and European dates this summer, including a performance at Sackville, NB's SappyFest. He will also perform at One Big Silence's NXNE showcase at Toronto's Wrongbar on June 18. The full tour dates are below the tracklisting.
