Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh to Score Will Forte Comedy 'Last Man on Earth'

Devo vocalist Mark Mothersbaugh is taking off his energy dome again to work on yet another scoring project. This time, the prolific soudscaper will be adding his soundtracking skills to upcoming Fox TV comedy Last Man on Earth.

The Hollywood Reporter explains that the upcoming show, which stars Will Forte as the aforementioned last man on earth, re-teams Mothersbaugh with the directing team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller for the small screen. Mothersbaugh had previously worked with the pair on silver screen ventures Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, both 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, and The Lego Movie. Lord and Miller directed the pilot, which is expected to be aired early next year.

"It's a pretty interesting show, it looks pretty good," said Mothersbaugh. "You didn't have to watch the first episode to think, 'Maybe there are too many people here.'"

As previously reported, Mothersbaugh still has a score on the way for Cameron Crowe's next film.

In other news, the Devo co-founder and visual artist delivered his Myopia book earlier this month. The collection of illustrations, photos, paintings and more features a foreword from director and collaborator Wes Anderson, who laid out goals in the tome to build an amusement park based on Mothersbaugh's designs.
