Devo to Reissue Classic Albums for North American Tour, Still Looking to Work with LCD Soundsystem, Justice on New Studio Full-Length

Yesterday (September 15th), we found out that Devo were planning some Canadian shows to play their Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo and Freedom of Choice albums at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre on November 23 and 24. Now, we've learned that the shows are part of a larger North American tour and that the band will be reissuing both of those albums in deluxe versions.

November 3 is both the kick-off for the tour and the release date for the reissues. The deluxe versions of the albums will be released by Warner Bros. and will be available as double CDs and on limited coloured vinyl. There's also a "Jocko Homo"/"Mongoloid" seven-inch due out, and everything comes as part of Devo's new 360 deal with Warner, which the press release says includes "recorded music, touring, merchandising, web services, promotion, e-commerce, sponsorships, licensing, and endorsements."

Like the Toronto dates, the band will be playing back-to-back nights on tour, one for Are We Not Men and the other for Freedom of Choice.

Even more exciting, the band are still working on a new studio album and looking for more modern acts such as LCD Soundsystem, OutKast's Andre3000 and Justice to appear on the record. The plan is to promote the as-yet-untitled record with an even larger tour when it comes out.

In an interview with Billboard, Mark Mothersbaugh suggested the band would be exploring their options with the new material, saying, "The new challenges... are interesting to us. With the business turned upside down like it's been in the last couple years, we're looking for ways to use new technology that wasn't around when we did this the first time."

There have also been rumours of an upcoming Devo biopic but no firm details have surfaced.
