Devendra Banhart To Publish New Book

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Feb 9, 2009

If you're one of those freaky folks who just can't get enough of Devendra Banhart, mark May 20 on your calendars: that's when he's getting his very own photo book.

Titled Family, the upcoming coffee table companion is set to dedicate 192 pages to the whacked-out Renaissance man, with full-colour, 9x11 pics all shot by L.A.-based photog Lauren Dukoff. And with the book titled Family and all that, it features quite a few images of Banhart's extended musical family, including folks like Joanna Newsom, Bat for Lashes, Espers, Vetiver, Bert Jansch, Vashti Bunyan and others, in performance and "more private spaces."

Along with the 150 photos, there's also a foreword written by Banhart, text and artwork by the musicians, artist biographies and a digital download featuring songs by some of the artists in the book.

However, publisher Chronicle Books doesn't mention whether the book will include snaps of Banhart's old flame Natalie Portman, his kind of creepy beardless look or Banhart's whang.

You can pre-order the book here.
