Details Begin Surfacing for Swan's First New Album in over a Decade

Michael Gira, the man behind Angels of Light and the Young God label (Devendra Banhart, Akron/Family), has thrilled fans recently by reviving his Swans project, announcing that he will release a new album this fall under the band's moniker.

As Tiny Mix Tapes points out, Gira will release his first Swans album since 1997, My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky, this September. The record is currently being mixed at Trout Recordings, and features guest spots from Devendra Banhart, R.E.M. drummer Bill Rieflin, and Mercury Rev's Grasshopper.

As previously reported, the album will be followed up by a series of North American tour dates, including stops in Montreal and Toronto on October 1 and 2, respectively. Those dates are below.
