Destroyer

"Leave Me Alone" (New Order cover)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 2, 2012

Back in 2011 (remember then?), Destroyer kicked on the year with a bang by releasing the outstanding Kaputt in January. The beginning of 2012 is shaping up to be just as awesome, as Dan Bejar and co. have unveiled a cover of New Order's "Leave Me Alone."

Stylistically, this one falls somewhere in between the synth-heavy soft-rock of Kaputt and the more raw sounds of the Vancouver songwriter's past work, as shimmering guitars mingle with punchy beats and Dan's soft vocals.

This track comes from a MOJO Magazine-curated New Order covers album that finds artists like Fujiya & Miyagi and the Golden Filter playing songs from 1983's Power, Lies & Corruption.

Thanks to Stereogum for the heads-up.
