Destroyer

"Forces from Above" (remix)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 7, 2015

Destroyer's symphony string-orchestrated Poison Season single "Forces from Above" has been given an in-house revamp from longtime collaborator John Collins (New Pornographers). As DJ johnedwardcollins@gmail.com, the Vancouver musician is taking the track deep into the club with an electronics-spiked remix.

The original meshed rhythmic conga whapping with the beautifully percussive staccato bowing of violins and cellos. This remix takes a slightly more digitized approach to the beat, often utilizing computerized snare rolls and various blips to get its point across, while still mixing in the otherworldy but organic textures of trumpet and more. Dan Bejar's unique and literary vocals remain unphased.
