Despistado Reunite for Western Canadian Tour, Hint at New Material

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 12, 2013

No doubt to the surprise of many, early aughts post-punk crew Despistado have reunited for a quick tour of Western Canada.

The dates begin today (July 12) in Saskatoon and will be the first since a series of one-off shows in 2009. The band's original run lasted between 2001 and 2004, yielding their 2002 EP The Emergency Response and their posthumously released LP The People of and Their Verses. Since their break-up, members moved on to Sylvie, War Doves and Geronimo, with Leif Thorseth and Joel Passmore currently playing in Rah Rah.

Speaking with Planet S, Passmore hinted that on top of dusting off the classics, new tunes may be on the way.

"We're passing some ideas back and forth, and we're going to start rehearsing right away, so we'll know what's happening after that," he said. "The bands that we've all played in since haven't [had] that sound at all. We all have a lot of ideas, and I'd really like to do some new stuff as well."
