Depeche Mode founding member Martin Gore has shared a new cut from his upcoming instrumental EP, The Third Chimpanzee. Today, the artist releases "Howler" from the record.

"'Howler' was the first track I recorded for The Third Chimpanzee EP," Gore explained of the track. "I resynthesized some vocals that almost sounded human, but not quite. That's why I decided to name the track after a monkey. I thought that would be a good theme to carry on with the rest of the tracks."

Written and produced by Gore, the song was recorded at Electric Ladyboy in Santa Barbara, CA. It's the second single to be released from the record, following "Mandrill," which arrived back in November.

The Third Chimpanzee will arrive through Mute on January 29. The five-track instrumental EP will arrive on CD, digitally and as a limited 12-inch vinyl release on "Azure Blue" wax. Until then, listen to the record's latest single below.

Gore's last solo effort arrived back in 2015 with his MG album, while Depeche Mode released Spirit in 2017.
