Last September, we caught wind of a new Depeche Mode remixes album, which was reported to be their follow-up to the band's previously released Remixes 81-04 from 2004. Sure enough, the '80s synth-pop heroes just unveiled the details of Remixes 2: 81-11, due out June 6 in the UK via Mute.
In an update posted on their official website, the band revealed that the collection will be available in a single-CD version, as well as a triple-CD set or a six-LP box. It will also be released as a digital download.
Among the many artists who appear on the career-spanning collection are M83, Peter Bjorn and John, members of Miike Snow, Jacques Lu Cont, Röyksopp, Eric Prydz, UNKLE and more. There are also new remixes by former Depeche Mode members Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder, marking the first time that they have remixed songs for their ex-bandmates. Bear in mind that some of these remixes only appear on the expanded version of the set.
The hit "Personal Jesus" has been pegged as the first single. The triple-CD contains three different remixes of the song.
